Research Development and Consultancy Division (RDCD)

The Research Development and Consultancy Division (RDCD) of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) is entrusted with the responsibility of enhancing the educational and academic commitments of the CISCE.

The Research Development and Consultancy Division (RDCD) extends the operations of the CISCE beyond conduct of examinations, to wider frontiers of education and development, to help realise the CISCE’s commitment towards qualitative improvement of education by optimizing various dimensions of pupil growth, the proficiency levels of teachers and enhancing the outcomes from institutional inputs.

The RDCD has always strived to make teaching-learning a continuous success through the various professional development initiatives undertaken to equip teachers with the required content knowledge as well as the skills to cater seamlessly to the 21st century learner. There is constant research on new and upcoming areas in the field of education and adoption of innovative techniques and methodologies to facilitate the teaching-learning process.

The CISCE understands the needs of its affiliated schools and continues to work towards empowering its teachers while ensuring that its prescribed syllabi are in sync with the global educational requirements.

Some of the activities undertaken by the Research Development and Consultancy Division of the CISCE include:

  • Curriculum development and review, including preparation of the ICSE and ISC syllabi,
  • Development of syllabi on upcoming subjects,
  • Development of resource materials for different stakeholders,
  • Organising and conducting training programmes for different stakeholders,
  • Preparation of the “Analysis of Pupil Performance” documents both at the ICSE and ISC levels. These subject wise documents, which are brought out every year, analyse the performance of students in different subjects in the ICSE and ISC Examinations and provide guidance to the teachers,
  • Conducting studies based on contemporary broad-based academic issues,
  • Exploring innovations in the field of education and undertaking initiatives in new and emerging areas.
